My daughter was four when she shunned our family's favorite, albeit not so esthetically pleasing creamed spinach. I explained to her that it included all of her favorite things to eat and implored her to try it, but she replied with a resounding, "NO!".
It wasn't until she helped me prepare the dish, all the while eating spoons full of cream cheese and parmesan, that she proudly taste tested her creation of the family favorite. Thus began, her journey as my sous chef, a lover of creamed spinach and a not so picky eater.
At The Cookery, we believe that no child is too young to be in the kitchen. Cooking offers children a variety of learning experiences, and it’s a practical way to teach kids basic life skills, as well as academic skills involving reading, science and math.
